Foundation Stock Keith and Jennifer began Coblynau Stud in 1983 when they imported two young fillies from Wales - Dyfnog Valiant Vixen and Derwen Tybed. Two Years later they imported their stallion, the yearling Derwen Reality.

Dyfnog Valiant Vixen

Vixen is a lovely chestnut with a large star. She is more of a Breconshire type of cob with a lovely long stride. She has won many ribbons herself, and her offspring are all following in her footsteps. Her first foal, Coblynau Cymraes, by Hafael Brenin, is the dam of Misty Mountain Brynmor, standing at stud in Florida. Her sons Coblynau Cilcennin and Carmarthen, both by Reality, made a name for themselves in performance and breeding in the United States. Her daughter Cileos, also by Reality, has won championships for her owner in Ontario.

Derwen Tybed

Black with an elongated star and one hind white, Tybed was a perfect match for Reality. Through the years she has been our primary show mare, winning many championships along the way. The most memorable was the Aberystwyth Trophy for Supreme Champion Welsh at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto in 1990. The crossing of Tybed with Reality has been very successful, producing such cobs as Coblynau Caio (1st placed training level Section D 2004 USDF Welsh Awards) and Coblynau Celynen, dam of Cwmfelen Cariad Fach (Supreme Champion Tulsa Nationals 2000).

Derwen Reality

Black with a small star and one hind sock, Reality epitomizes a Welsh Cob stallion. He is a true Cardiganshire cob, very compact and with lovely knee action. Although he has never been shown, his blood runs in the veins of many champions. His sons Coblynau Cwmbran and Cilcennin, his daughter Coblynau Cwm Tawe, and his grandson Millgate Braveheart, to name a few, have all carried his flag.
